After leaving the small town of Manteo on the Barrier Islands of NC, Dave Holton pursued a path that would make most parents proud – he managed multi-million-dollar bridge construction projects as an engineer and then advised Fortune 500 CEOs as a management consultant. But when a boss told Dave during a performance review that he was “too creative” and needed to “tone it down,” Dave hit the eject button on his rocket ship to the straight and narrow.
Dave has since worn several hats across the entertainment industry as a writer, producer, assistant director, line producer, and script-reader and the list keeps growing. His broad experience and education (a Certificate of Producing for Film, Television, and New Media from UCLA, an MBA from the UNC, and a BSc in Civil Engineering from NCSU) have allowed Dave to contribute to several successful projects. Dave produced the 25-minute WWE Mockumentary WRESTLING ISN’T WRESTLING for Writer/Director Max Landis that has nearly 2.5 Million hits on YouTube and Season 1 of FRIENDLESS FIVE, a mystery web-series that has been a hit with teen audiences since its release on August 1st via Fullscreen Network. Dave recently produced several shorts for FunnyorDie.com and worked on a feature film for the SyFy Channel, and in the meantime has busied himself with writing several feature-length spec screenplays, one of which just finished in the top 10% of the internationally recognized PAGE Screenwriting Awards.
